„See, what others don’t”
is the slogan and concept of Swan Hellenic.
The SWAN HELLENIC brand, still relatively undiscovered in Germany, has been around since the 1950s. In 2020, the Swan Hellenic brand was acquired by a private investor group. Since then, two new cruise ships, SH Vega and SH Diana, have been built for Swan Hellenic and positioned in the luxury cruise segment.
Swan Hellenic included
An overnight stay (precruise), transfers, one shore excursion per port, as well as (almost) all drinks, tips and WiFi are included.

environmental Protection
The SH Vega has SCR catalytic converters and runs on a hybrid energy system. The energy is produced by the diesel generators and drawn from batteries in a later phase.
Swan Hellenic is still waiting on battery operation until even better battery technology is available. The SH Vega will then be able to operate for two to three hours or six to eight hours in the port with no local emissions, using only energy from the batteries.
Swan Hellenic's sustainability concept includes the almost complete avoidance of single-use plastic and the use of degradable and pollutant-free cleaning products, detergents and cosmetics.
There are also no printed daily programs available. Each guest receives a drinking bottle and can draw water free of charge from a carafe at the water stations.
Helicopter and submarine
Unlike other expedition ships, the SH Vega does not require a helicopter or submarine

They are located on deck 4. The bright sea view cabins, made of natural materials, have 2 single beds, a bedroom and a living room as well as a luxurious bathroom.

These balcony cabins are located in the front, middle and rear of the ship. They have a bedroom with 2 single beds or a double bed, a living area, a luxurious bathroom and a 6 m2 balcony.
Suite
44 m2, 2 people
The suites feature a super king size bed and a separate living room with a flame effect fireplace (not real), a luxurious ensuite bathroom and a 12 m² private balcony.
Premium Suite
49 m2, 2 people
The Premium Suites feature a super king size bed and a separate living room with a flame effect fireplace (not real), a luxurious bathroom, a spacious walk-in closet and a 12 m² private balcony.
During our trip, the premium suites were occupied and viewing was not possible
All suites have a coffee machine and a good-sized TV.
The many sockets are very practical, both in US standards and in accordance with Schuko/Euro standards. These are located next to both sides of the bed, at the desk, behind the coffee machine and next to the sofa.
The ship at a glance
In our opinion, the SH Vega is designed in Swedish design. Not Ikea like, Swan Hellenic calls the design “Scandi-luxe chic”.
We noticed the many large panoramic windows, which are intended to bring as much daylight as possible into the interior.
Swan’s Nest
Swan’s Nest is the lookout on board, which offers a 300 degree view of the sea. The “Swan’s Nest” on board the SH Vega is located on deck 6 at the very front of the bow.
Observation Lounge
The Observation Lounge is the meeting point, lecture room, bar, excursion office, shop on board and is located on deck 7 forward.
In the observation lounge there is a console with displays showing the ship's external cameras, the navigation map and some ship and navigation data. This information is also available on the cabin TV. We saw something similar in the Crows Nest aboard Rotterdam von Holland America Line gesehen.
Club Lounge
The Club Lounge is a bistro with buffet, with a cozy fireplace (artificial) in the middle. There is an Early Bird and Late Breakfest here, as well as a buffet lunch and snacks and cakes in the afternoon.
Stargazing Deck
The Stargazing Deck on Deck 9 is the top deck on board the SH Vega. It is the sundeck on board.
library
The library on deck 3 is a nice retreat to recharge your batteries and read a good book.
Base Camp and Expedition Lab
In the base camp on deck 3, the crew members receive the guests' expedition clothing, clean and dry them and then deliver them back to the suite.
The Expedition Lab on board the SH Vega is a special area on board and is also located on deck 3.
The expedition laboratory is used by the scientists and researchers on board on expedition cruises to the Arctic, Antarctic and South America. Guests are also allowed to take part in scientific research and discoveries made by the experts.

Restaurants
There are three, no, four options for eating on board
Swan Restaurant
The classic Swan Restaurant with 152 seats. So there is enough space so that all passengers can eat at the same time. The menus include international and local cuisine with a focus on regional ingredients from the destinations the ship travels.
There is a buffet for breakfast, otherwise you are served at the table.
Club Lounge
The Club Lounge is a bistro with buffet, with a cozy fireplace (artificial) in the middle. There is an Early Bird and Late Breakfest here, as well as a buffet lunch and snacks and cakes in the afternoon.
Pool Grill
The Pool Grill is located on deck 7 directly at the Club Lounge at the stern. Even on cooler days, you can sit comfortably and eat and drink here thanks to the heat lamps. Here you can find, among other things, hot dogs, burgers and the like.
Roomservice
The 24-hour room service will also be happy to serve you food in your suite. There is a very large selection of cold and warm dishes to choose from.
Pool
The infinity pool is not located directly at the stern, as two decks below the pool - slightly tiered - store the Zodiac.
Smoking onboard
On the starboard side, outside the observation lounge, there are three beautiful seating niches which are designated as smoking areas.
Spa, beauty salon, fitness studio, sauna
Spa und Beauty
The SH Vega's spa wellness areas are small in keeping with the size of the ship, but offer all imaginable amenities. There is a spa room on deck 3 and another on deck 8.
Sauna with sea view
On deck 8 there is a sauna with a panoramic window and directly in front of it a relatively large whirlpool on the outside deck.
Gym
The fitness studio offers enough options for a maximum of 152 passengers with two treadmills, a rowing machine, three cardio bikes as well as dumbbells, a weight bench and a strength training machine.
Laundry – Waschsalon
There is a laundry room on deck 4 with washing machines, dryers and irons. Everything can be used free of charge, including washing powder.
Zodiac
The 13 Zodiacs and the 8 kayaks are located on a platform at the stern on deck 5.
The Zodiacs and kayaks can be launched very quickly from there. This has the advantage that if whales or polar bears are sighted, you can react very quickly and the animals can be observed up close.
